DELPHI – SOS!!!
I’m a poor Greek from Thessaloniki who needs to find a way to go directly from Thessaloniki to the second most popular destination in Hellas (Greece): DELPHI! If you have a clue, I BEG YOU! HELP!!!
As I’ve said in a previous post after a long time of correspondence I’m going to meet face to face, for first time, a pen – pal of mine. Actually, I’m going to meet the one who lives the farest of all, Akiko from Japan.
She’s coming in September and she expressee her admiration for Delphi. So, as a true Greek and descendant of «Xenios Zeus» what shall I do? Of course check how we’ll manage to visit the ancient center of the world and nowadays the second most popular tourist attraction of Hellas:
Delphi.
At this point I make a tiny note as well, Thessaloniki is supposed to be Hellas’co-capital. Doesn’t it make perfect sense that there should be a direct way at least by bus to go from a country’s co-capital to its second most popular destination? Don’t rush! I though so, too, but I forgot that this certain country, every now and then, tends to prove that she is the queen of paranoia…
I spent my whole morning to find a bulk of information about Delphi’s history, musium, climping paths, accomodation facilities and not a clue more than rejection that there’s a change to go there from Thessaloniki without changing three buses!!!
«Hope dies last» and I intent to continue my efforts. I don’t think my Japanese friend will soon have such an opportunity twice and I’ll do everything in my power. Unfortynatwly my power seems very week infront of this glorius «Greek Paranoia». So, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! If you have a tiny single clue on this «How to go from Thessaloniki to Delphi», please leave a comment! You can’t imagine how greatful I’ll be.
Thank you in advance, at least for you kind thoughts.
P.S. For all the friend who plan to come for the Olympics. Please just take this as a statement of honesty. I do believe you’ll love Greeks and Greece «Hellas» and you’ll find out that this
«paranoia» makes us more cute. Still, I admit it doesn’t help in practical matters but you don’t have to worry much if you go to Athens, at least considering your transportation. You’ll be very glad to
find it’s amazing connection with every part of the country.
P.P.S. If you can read Greek, I suggest you visit Asteris blog here or even better his source
under the greek title «Μια διαμαρτυρία την ημέρα την καφρίλα κάνει πέρα» to check out some interesting ways to encounter effectively with the «Greek Paranoia»
