In the spirit

Ιανουάριος14

Just in the spirit of the games here is a translation of the Olympic Anthem (its a trial of mine). It was written by Costis Palamas and composed by Spyros Samaras for the first Olympic Games in 1986. I find it deeply representative of the Olympic spirit and its worthy to read it at least once. You may find the original text in Greek in this post

"Ancient Immortal Spirit, chaste Father
of all that is Beauty, Grandeur and Truth,

descend here, appear and shine
in the glory of your land and sky.

Shine upon the race, the fight and the stone,
upont the impetus of the noble games
and crown with thy evergreen branch
and make the body of iron and value.

Plains, mountains and seas shine with You
as a white and purple, great temple
and here at the temple swings as Your worshipper,
oh, Ancient Eternal Spirit, each nation."
