Luciano Pavarotti: A night to remember
It’s almost a month ago, that we had the chance to enjoy Luciano Pavarotti in Thessaloniki, on the 5th of June 2004. The concert was titled «A night to remember» and took place in the city under co-operation with the Organization of the Friends of Children with Cancer, «Storgi», as a part of Pavarotti’s Farewell World Tour.
It is true that the emotion was dominating the atmosphere. Mr Pavarotti was absolutely moved and the audience felt owe before the legend that had the honor to hear for the first and last time. Still, there were two facts that wasn’t easy not to be noticed. The great tenor is pretty old and his capabilities are obviously eliminated, but most important is that such concerts shouldn’t be presented in open theatres. The magic of the pure sound is lost in the microphone cables and it is a great loss if you have one and only chance to listen to the greatest tenor of the last centuries. After all Luciano Pavarotti is a true, great legend and it is absolutely fair. He is an absolute example of high spirit but even when he will be gone his work will remain to prove the magnitude of his art.
